Sossusvlei Lodge Restaurant

"Staying at Kavita was
not only a lovely and relaxing experience, but I think it is important for
visitors, who have come because of their fascination with African wildlife, to
see what concerned, dedicated Namibians are doing to improve wildlife
conservation in their country."
Harriette F.

The trip was organized in detail
focusing on guest comfort. The guides were social, informative, and
attentive. Food was the best available, whether local and traditional, or
prepared to order. Eating under all the conditions was fun and an
important part of the experience.

Johannesburg International Airport
Holiday Inn:
The
hotel is located just a 3-minute courtesy van from Johannesburg
International airport terminal and provides quality accommodations
and friendly service. This is a modern hotel with all the major
conveniences including concierge services, restaurant, bar, gift shop,
news stand, and indoors
pool.
All
meals are served buffet style in the main dining room, and the breakfast
buffet is especially good.
Sossusvlei Lodge:
Surrounded by ancient camelthorn trees at
the gateway to Sossusvlei Pan, the site of the world's highest sand dunes,
the Sossusvlei Lodge has been designed to fit in perfectly with the Namib
Desert environment. The guest rooms have adobe walls, slate floors,
and stretched canvas roofs designed to remain cool even in the heat of the
day. Guests have a choice of dining in the resort's first-class
restaurant or of dining al fresco under remarkable southern skies.
The Damaraland
Camp:
This
Camp is set in central Damaraland on the northern slopes of the Huab River
valley. The camp consists of eight large East-African style tents
with quality furnishings, which flank a central lapa (canvas-topped,
hard-sided permanent dining tent) with the bar and
dining room. Every guest tent has full en suite facilities and an amazing
view of the dry river valley and the mountains beyond. A feature of
the camp is the unique rock pool. Activities revolve around nature
drives and walks into the Huab River system. The star-gazing is "par
excellence" because of the crystal-clear night skies. There are no fences
in the area which gives one a complete feeling of freedom.
Kavita Lion Lodge:
Kavita Lion Lodge is located on a large
private game ranch just to the south of Etosha Park's western entrance.
Enjoy the hospitality and warmth of your hosts, Tammy and
Uwe Hoth, and let them show you the wildlife and scenery at Kavita.
The accommodations consist of very attractive thatched-roof chalets
overlooking a waterhole. Enjoy the swimming pool, guided nature hikes,
and game drives on the expansive ranch. Kavita is also the home of the
Afri-Leo Foundation and a sanctuary for lions unable to survive in the
wild. The
excellent cuisine at Kavita Lion Lodge is
European style, using fresh, local ingredients.
Etosha National Park: Ongava Camp
Ongava Tented Camp is located along the
southern boundary of Etosha National Park in the 30,000 hectare, privately
owned Ongava Game Reserve. Accommodations consist of six large comfortable
walk-in tents with en-suite facilities. All meals are enjoyed in the thatched dining area that overlooks
an active waterhole. There is also a small pool. Ongava Camp is
operated by the Wilderness Safaris Company and meets their high standards
for facilities and food.
Etosha National Park: Mushara Lodge
Mushara Lodge, located 8 kilometers from
the eastern entrance of the Etosha National Park, compromises 10
widely-spaced twin-bed bungalows equipped with air conditioning,
telephone, safe, mini bar and ensuite bathrooms. A sumptious buffet-style
breakfast and an excellent dinner complemented by a comprehensive wine
list is served by dedicated staff in the air-conditioned dining room.
Mushara Lodge opened in 1998, making it one of the newest resorts in
Namibia, and its facilities have been very well-maintained.
Okonjima Resort:
Okonjima is a private game reserve and luxurious resort that also is a
rehabilitation center and sanctuary for African big cats. Every year
it is chosen one of the leading resorts in Namibia. The
accommodations are in individual chalets tucked away in the bush for
privacy, or in a lovely setting with rooms surrounding a beautiful
courtyard and garden area. The main buildings include dining rooms,
bars and shops for buying souvenirs. Okonjima offers a wide range of
activities including up-close cheetah, lion, and leopard sitings, guided
walks, game drives, and after-dinner viewing of various nocturnal animals from a
special game hide.
